The Ewan Stewart Resource

Ewan gets a lot of screen time in the first two episodes.
Jack: A suspect with whom you've had past dealings is alleging I've hooked him.
Jack: You're not going to ask me if I did hit him?
[Rebus doesn't respond.]
Jack: I had nothing to do with this, John.
John: Just like you had nothing to do with Mental Mento?
Jack: She's got us both by the short and curlies on that one.
Templar: Sometimes good men do bad things, isn't that right, Inspector?
[John looks at Jack, who looks away guiltily]
Rebus: You're seriously following me about?
Jack: 24/7. I hate this as much as you.
Jack: Ormond, between you and the Aberdeen mob, you couldn't find your own pricks in the dark.
Jack: Oscars all round! Bart and the boys were just heavy enough to make it look real. Then Sean Haddow helped me up, and starts asking me all these questions...
Jack: Mac needs a security guard in his pocket, and I fit the bill because I'm so obviously a dodgy type.
Jack: You know I'm supposed to be under cover. You can't find some other shoulder to cry on?
Rebus: I couldn't tell him. He was my best friend. We'd broken rules and even laws together, but I couldn't tell Jack I'd sold my soul to Cafferty. Because I knew he'd have to turn me in.
Rebus: I thought that was Chardonnay.
Jack: Mm. With that inescapable aftertaste of apple juice?
