The Ewan Stewart Resource

When Joe, a young drifter working on a coal barge, finds a young woman's half-nude corpse floating in a canal, it seems like mere coincidence... but, as the woman's death is investigated, it becomes clear that the drifter knows more than he's telling. As Joe obsessively occupies the present with affairs and sexual encounters, we learn in flashbacks about his connection to the dead woman.
Ewan has very few scenes in this (and the few he has are confined to a courtroom), but his brief moments onscreen are very effective. As the murder suspect on trial for his life, he conveys an innocent man's confusion and distress that is both pathetic and touching. His final few seconds onscreen are heartbreakingly excellent.
